To develop a scalable carbon emissions calculator/model on excel that will calculate the carbon emissions of the company.

The model will be scalable, so it will be able to calculate the emissions as the company grows, by changing the inputs.

1. Gain an understanding of the company’s operation
2. Analyze the entire cycle of operations and how each part makes a carbon impact

• Equipment
• Energy use
• Etc.

1. Identify carbon sources from each business process
2. Find a factor for each part of the process
3. Use as much formulas as possible to develop a model where the variables can be changed to accommodate as the business scales for the variable inputs – eg. So you can just put different number of employees, different number of users, different number for emissions factors.
4. Provide sources and back up for numbers
5. Provide a methodology, and the options if there are different options
6. Prepare the Excel model

I will provide students with the starting plan of the project which will provide direction as the project progresses. I like to have short and frequent updates to ensure that there is no confusion and to provide feedback and guidance along the way. I am a big believer in the only stupid question is the one that is not asked, and I’m happy to share my knowledge and experience.
