Learner goals and capabilities

Learners in Sheridan's Digital Product Design Capstone Workshop collaborate with industry partners to address real-world challenges through innovative design solutions. Learners are equipped with skills in research, strategy, and hands-on design, enabling them to transform ideas into tested prototypes. By applying an iterative process that combines creativity with problem-solving, students offer fresh perspectives on organizational challenges. They also explore the business aspects of their solutions, ensuring they are desirable, viable, and sustainable.

  • Learners work in small groups of 3-4 students
  • Project starts the first full week of January and runs to mid-April
  • The industry partner works with two student teams
  • The industry partner presents the challenge, offer teams feedback at three key project milestones, and attend final team presentations

To ensure the scope and expectations are clear going into this collaboration, industry partners are asked to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) document.
