Learner goals and capabilities

George Brown College invites healthcare organizations to collaborate on a transformative experiential learning opportunity with postgraduate learners from the Health Informatics program. Our learners are equipped with a deep understanding of healthcare systems, technologies, and trends, seeking to apply their skills in real-world scenarios. Through this experience, employers will engage with dedicated students eager to tackle challenges in health informatics, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and enhancing healthcare delivery.

Employers are expected to provide regular communication, guidance, and all necessary project information. They are encouraged to attend the final presentation virtually and provide constructive feedback to student groups via the Riipen platform.

Project Examples

Project Examples: Projects could involve:

  1. Integrating a new Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to streamline patient data management.
  2. Developing a telehealth platform for remote patient monitoring and consultation.
  3. Implementing data analytics solutions to optimize healthcare decision-making processes.
  4. Designing and deploying health information exchange (HIE) systems to improve interoperability.
  5. Enhancing cybersecurity measures within healthcare IT infrastructures.

What are not good projects: Projects that solely involve theoretical research without practical implementation. Projects that do not directly involve hands-on experience with health information systems technologies. Projects that do not align with the scope of the Health Informatics program.
